„In addition to her installations and collages, Anke Becker has opened up a third field of work in the medium of drawing in recent years. Her focus is less on classical nature studies or sophisticated figurations. The artist realises drawing rather as a series with conception, i.e. the execution of all sheets follows certain rules, which results in visually characteristic drawing convolutions for each approach. Her notations are often developed as a repetitive system of lines and text. Graphics and information complement, censor and deconstruct each other simultaneously. Or Becker uses drawing as a collective element, which then emerges wonderfully in her collective drawings and her ongoing project Anonymous Drawings. As an annual gift for frontviews, Becker has developed a series of „Killerzeichnungen“ (eng.: „Killer drawings”). These 14 sheets are not only extremely dangerously good, but also technically the name does not come by chance. A line work with an ink eraser pen (German: „Tintenkiller“) and ruler is drawn over gesturally applied, wide strips of ink, before new ink blotches may drip on the paper again. As a result, deep blue meets pale lemon yellow, expressive flow meets ordering structure.“ Stephan Klee 2019
