This series of drawings is about the feeling of homesickness, which is not bound to a place but to one's own language.
Grimm's fairy tales are texts that many people remember word for word: read aloud, read by themselves, heard. Childhood memories mix with the sound of words and sentences in their own language. Since my mother tongue is German, the English version of Grimm's fairy tales creates a strong distance to my personal memories of the wording of my childhood. The topos of distance, longing and homesickness is inscribed in many of the Grimm fairy tales.
In the distance I have homesickness for my language: This sentence in German is left out on every English page of the book, letter by letter.
